The Council strives to serve girls of all races and ethnicities, without regard to income, and has current membership of 6,600 girls and 2,800 adult volunteers, with 45 full- and part-time employees. The Council’s budget is $5 million and its combined facilities include the headquarters office, two out based offices program and two resident camps. We are proud to be a leader among the 111 Girl Scout councils nationally, recognized for leadership in strategic focus, organizational culture development, and member retention. GSU is a workplace dedicated to helping today’s girls become tomorrow’s leaders.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) leads the continued transformation of GSU’s delivery model to provide the best leadership development program for all girls. This position is charged with the strategic leadership of Membership, Volunteer Management, Programs, Camp, Product Sales, Facilities, and related support departments. The COO is responsible to substantially grow girl membership, volunteer and staff capacity; to develop relevant and compelling programs that are aligned with the Girl Scout National Program Portfolio; to implement efficient use of technologies, facilities, streamlined processes, and an outcomes measurement system. Additional responsibilities include the generation of approximately 75 percent of Council revenue, predominantly through product sales. The COO will develop and implement operational plans, monitoring progress and adjusting as necessary to achieve objectives.
