I am always looking for ways to thank our amazing volunteers who give tirelessly to support Girl Scouting. Here is a list of ideas that are inexpensive and easy to implement.

  • Social Media Shout-Out – use Facebook or Twitter to spotlight a volunteer each month.
  • Kudoboard: make an online group card for special occasions.
  • Helping Hands Day – write a volunteer's name and thank you on a hand print cut out. "Thanks for lending a helping hand!" Mail them to the volunteer or post them on a wall at an event.
  • Bulletin Board – special display to highlight a volunteer's contribution in a highly visible location, such as the welcome desk.
  • Spotlights –write a paragraph about a volunteer and contributions, snap a photo share it on websites or newsletters.
  • Video – people love social media and seeing themselves in action, giving back as a volunteer!
  • Girl Scout Cookies - these are always a welcome Thank You, no matter what time of year!
  • Food – keep your volunteers well-nourished and hydrated at events, with a special volunteer lounge for breaks.
  • Lanyards – custom lanyards with Girl Scout logo for volunteers to place their badges and pins.
  • Event Swag Patches and T-Shirts - pass out same color T-shirts to your volunteer team, making them easy to identify at events. Patches are popular for the new adult Girl Scout vest.
  • Recognize their birthday - let them know how grateful you are and their volunteer time on their special day.
  • Letters of Appreciation or Recommendation- what a great way to honor a volunteer by writing a letter to their current supervisor, or for future positions and school applications.
  • Gas Gift Cards- to cover cost of driving to events or troop meetings
  • Thank You Card- from the CEO or Board Chair
  • Recognition Ceremony – most Girl Scout councils have a Adult Awards Ceremony to honor the their volunteers. This is a great forum to give a special shout out for work well done. Don’t forget a shout out at the event.
