International Day of the Girl Child is an annual and internationally recognized observance on October 11 that empowers girls and amplifies their voices. Don't miss this special day with three guest speakers representing the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Tanya Tulloch, World Centre Manager, Our Chalet, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. Tanya Tulloch grew up in Wilderness Road Girl Scout Council and worked at various Girl Scout Summer camps before settling in Oregon at Columbia River Girl Scout Council. For the last ten years she has been the manager at Our Chalet World Centre in Adelboden, Switzerland. Girl Scouting taught her the skills she needed to manage volunteers, teach life skills, market the centres services, manage a budget and Girl Scouting helped her find the passion for the out-of-doors that makes this job such a good fit. When she is not helping Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world follow their dreams through leadership training and outdoor challenges you will find her hiking, snowshoeing, swimming or reading.
Magdalene Thomas, Head of International Operations, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. Magdalene is a strategic and dynamic leader with more than 14 years’ experience in the international development sector working with young people, especially girls, to campaign for social justice. The national Girl Scout Staff Association (formerly AGSES) gives our members skills, tools, and connections to achieve their current goals and further their professional growth and advancement. We support ongoing professional development and career direction through learning opportunities, mentoring, and networking. The Girl Scout Staff Association serves as a valuable partner to councils by enhancing their efforts in staff inclusion, development, and retention.
