Our workplace is like a science lab. Each worker is an atom that by itself can’t do much. But put them together and they create great things….or chaos. Learn what causes workplace conflict and how to prevent it before an explosion! Presented by Tammy Carlson, Human Resources Director, Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast.

About our speaker: Originally from Michigan, Tammy moved to the Hampton Roads area in 1991. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Northern Michigan University and has over twenty-five years of progressive human resources experience in the retail, government, and non-profit industries. In 2005, Tammy assumed the newly created position of human resources generalist with Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast and was promoted to human resources director in 2008. Her experience includes multiple staffing structure redesigns, compensation analysis, increasing organizational capacity through culture change, strategic learning, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and legal compliance. As the human resources director for a non-profit, she promotes the career advantages of volunteerism. She achieved SHRM-SCP (Society of Human Resource Management-Senior Certified Professional) certification in 2020 and her work helped Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast be recognized as a 2021 Top Workplace in Hampton Roads. Tammy lives in Chesapeake, Virginia with her husband Paul.
This event is open to all Girl Scout Staff, whether or not they are members of Girl Scout Staff Association. Only $10 for non members.
