About our presenters:
Monica Jasso, CVA, is the current Volunteer Coordinator with the County of El Paso, Texas, encompassing West Texas. She came to be a GSSA member during her 14 years with Girl Scouts of Desert Southwest in roles such as Membership Manager, Director of Volunteer Experience, and Director of Engagement. A proud Fronteriza, born in El Paso, Texas, she attended Texas A&M University, and finds purpose in advancing the mission of volunteerism to positively impact communities. She comes to us with decades of customer service experience, working directly with volunteers. During that time, Monica uses her passion for mastering the art and science of great customer interactions to design genuine volunteer experiences. She notes two key markers in her professional career - changing the trajectory of her career from the corporate to the nonprofit sector and earning her Certificate in Volunteer Administration (CVA). A Lifetime Girl Scout member, Monica has also committed herself to viewing everything from a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. A mother of two, in her down time, she enjoys nature, hiking, traveling, and Yelping about foodie spots.
Dawn Walker-Elders, CPTD, CVA, has served in Girl Scout adult learning as a staff member for 13 years and for another 13 as a volunteer before that. She enjoys life as one big learning experience, especially when connecting with humans. Presently, the Director of Adult Learning for Girl Scouts of Maine, she loves working with adult volunteers who are invested in building girls of courage, confidence, and character. She also volunteers with the Association for Talent Development.
