We are introducing a quarterly conversation group to share successful strategies, discuss challenges, and create a go-to network for colleague support. This new group is open to all GSSA members who advance Girl Scout councils’ adult learning and training goals. The group will be led by Mary Strauss, who is the Adult Volunteer Development Manager for Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital. At the first conversation, we will focus on: Rethinking Girl Scout Camping Training Camping is a cornerstone of the Girl Scout experience, but we know that delivering effective training has become increasingly challenging. Volunteers tell us that current methods for teaching essential safety requirements, girl-led principles, and Girl Scout traditions are often too long, inconvenient, and not easily accessible. Traditional approaches just aren't meeting the expectations of our members. Let’s share thoughts, ideas, and experiences to explore fresh approaches to camping training. We'll dive into questions like: - What makes for effective online training?
- Is an overnight training truly the only way to prepare?
- What challenges and opportunities arise when we prioritize flexibility in training?
Let's work together to adapt and better meet the needs of our volunteers, ensuring that every Girl Scout has the opportunity to experience the fun of camping. Please note: registration is required and members must be signed in to register.
