Supporting New Volunteers

Support of new volunteers is key for a dynamic Girl Scout experience and for retaining both girls and adults. Join us for an informative session focused on how staff at Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast effectively welcome and support new volunteers. Our presenter, Angie Bright, is a Lifetime Member with over 10 years of volunteer experience and has served as a New Troop Support Specialist with Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast for more than 6 years.

This session will cover key resources and strategies designed to ensure new troop leaders feel confident and connected and will provide attendees with practical tools to help build strong foundations for a successful Girl Scout year.

Angie Bright joined GSCCC as a Volunteer Support Specialist in 2018 and was promoted to New Troop Support Specialist in May 2021.  In this role, Angie draws upon her years of Girl Scout leadership and volunteer management experience to provide mentoring, training, leadership development, and program facilitation support for all first-year troops. She assists with recruiting caregiver volunteers to support the goals of the troop and coaches new volunteers on best practices regarding troop management, meeting planning, and educational and fun G.I.R.L. experiences to increase engagement.

Angie earned her BPS from the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising.  She is a Girl Scout Alum and a Lifetime member who has just celebrated her 20th year as an adult Girl Scout.

This event is open to all Girl Scout Staff, whether or not they are members of Girl Scout Staff Association. Only $10 for non members.
