This one-hour class provides an introduction to the basics of financial statements for nonprofit organizations, with a special emphasis on budgeting and budget tracking. Students will learn how to read and interpret key financial statements, focusing on the statement of activities (the income statement). The session will cover how to compare actual monthly results to budgeted figures, identify and analyze variances, and discuss practical steps a budget manager can take to address and correct those variances. Through examples and interactive discussion, participants will gain foundational skills to support effective financial management in a nonprofit setting.
